Herman van de Werfhorst.

Herman van de Werfhorst (1972) was appointed Professor of Sociology at the University of Amsterdam in 2007, where he has been teaching since 2002. He studied sociology and obtained his PhD at the University of Nijmegen. From 2000 to 2002 he was Prize Research Fellow at Nuffield College, Oxford University, and held visiting scholarships at the Universities of Oslo, Oxford, and Stockholm. In 2007 he was awarded a VIDI grant by the Netherlands' Organization of Scientific Research, for a research project about the cross-national variation in the usefulness of different mechanisms why education is beneficial on the labour market.
