Bram Kempers

Bram Kempers (1953) studied Sociology at the University of Amsterdam, did research for the Ministry of Culture and was a lecturer at the University of Groningen before becoming professor of Sociology of Art at the University of Amsterdam.

His PhD Painting, Power and Patronage was published in Dutch, English, German and French. Kempers has written articles on the art market, cultural policy, ritual in Siena Cathedral, Raphael and political symbolism in the Netherlands (Openbaring en bedrog 1995).
