Lodewijk BruntLodewijk Brunt (1942) is a emeritus professor of urban sociology at the University of Amsterdam. He studied Sociology and Anthropology at the same University. He taught (Urban) Ethnography at the University of Utrecht from 1972 till 1988. Brunt conducted fieldwork in different parts of the world, and was the first Dutch anthropologist to present a PhD thesis based on research in the Netherlands (Stedeling op het platteland {Urbanities in the Countryside}), 1974. In recent years , his studies have addressed the urban public domain, both in Western and Asian cities, and the history of Western Urban research.
