Rob van Es

Rob van Es (1955) has a BA in Human Resource Management and worked for four years as a Personnel Advisor at NV De Nederlandse Gasunie. After returning to fulltime education he finished a Minor in Literature- and Filmstudies and obtained a Master in Philosophy cum laude from the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. His doctoral thesis received the bi-annual Wolters-Noordhof Reward for best thesis written at the RUG. Sponsored by NWO he obtained a PhD in the Philosophy of Organizational Studies at Nijenrode University with a dissertation on the interrelatedness of ethics and negotiation. Currently he is appointed as a UD in Organizational Philosophy with the Department of Political Science at the UvA.

His research focuses on the culture, ethics and politics of transnational and international organizations, with a special interest in the concept of moral responsibility in relation to identity, self awareness and communication.

Next to his work at the UvA (0.5) he is an independent consultant in cultural and moral organizational change with public private partnerships, media, banking, information technology, and with professional occupations like organizational consultants, communication specialists and government officials.
