Peter Achterberg

Peter Achterberg (Dordrecht, 1977) is a sociologist at Erasmus University Rotterdam. His thesis Considering Cultural Conflict is a study on the rise of a new political culture and the alleged decline in class voting. He is currently working on a project which studies the changing support for the welfare state and changing patterns of solidarity in western societies. 

Alone, or in collaboration with others, he has published some papers in: Tijdschrift voor Sociologie, Sociologie, Sociologische Gids, Tijdschrift voor Arbeidsvraagstukken, Res Publica, Mens en Maatschappij, European Journal of Political Research, Politics and Society, and International Sociology.

His latest book, Farewell to the Leftist Working Class, which Peter co-authored with Dick Houtman and Anton Derks, was published in October 2007 at Transaction Publishers.

Together with Willem de Koster, Jeroen van der Waal, Sjaak Braster, Stef Aupers and Dick Houtman, Peter is responsible for running the highly prestigious journal WWW.TJOS.TK
