Tanya TimmersTanya Timmers (Bergen op Zoom, 1981) is a PhD Student of sociology at Erasmus University Rotterdam and Amsterdam School for Social Science Research (ASSR). She completed her Master’s degree at Erasmus University Rotterdam in 2006, with a thesis on gender differences in career development at an advisory service of the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management. After her masters research she worked as a research assistant for the ESF Equal project, a large scale initiative, aimed at creating equal opportunities on the labour market. She also worked as a researcher for the Dutch Network of Female Professors (LNVH) and SoFoKLeS foundation. Under the supervision of Professor Kea Tijdens (University of Amsterdam, Erasmus University Rotterdam) and Professor Tineke Willemsen (emeritus Tilburg University) she now studies gender differences in career development of faculty and the implementation and efficacy of gender diversity policies within universities. Her main interest is in the representation of women on the labour market, the career development hurdles women experience, and the policy measures that are put into project to enhance their position. During her PhD-project she was a visiting researcher at the European Centre for Analysis in Social Sciences, University of Essex.
