Eline van HaastrechtEline van Haastrecht (1977) studied Biology at the University of Amsterdam. She graduated in 2003, with a specialization in Science, Technology and Public Management. She combined her biology studies with first- and second-year courses in Anthropology, and she developed a particular interest in the marine environment. Her master’s thesis on fisheries management practices in Southeast India was awarded ‘Best master thesis in international development 2003’ by the World Bank/Amsterdam Institute for International Development. After graduation, she continued working at the Universiteit van Amsterdam, a.o. as a junior researcher at the ASSR, and as the programme manager of a new master’s in Forensic Science. In 2007, she completed a second master's degree (cum laude) in Environment and Resource Management at the Free University Amsterdam. Eline joined the ASSR PhD programme in the fall of 2007. Her project is entitled “Engaging biodiversity. Governing science and nature in Marine Protected Areas”.
