Carolina Ivanescu

Carolina Ivanescu (1979) has joined the ASSR in June 2009. Her research deals with the intersection between religion, gender and politics in a project which looks at local processes of mediated communication in Netherland, England and France. She is currently based as Erasmus University Rotterdam, where she started her Phd in 2008 within the chair "Citizenship and Identity" , co-financed by Erasmus University and the City of Rotterdam.  

She has previously studied at International School for Social Science Research (ISHSS), Amsterdam, where she obtained an MSc degree after finishing the Research Master Social Science. Her thesis dealt with sartorial innovation and identification practices of young Pakistani girls in the Netherlands. Previously she was based in Budapest, Hungary where she studied at Eotvos Lorand Tudomany Egyetem (ELTE), Cultural Anthropology (MA) specializing in the anthropology of religion and Romanian studies (MA) specializing in fantastic literature. For her anthropology degree she conducted extensive fieldwork in Dharamsala, Northern India.
