Richard Staring

Richard Staring (1962) is an anthropologist and lecturer at the Criminology Department at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. He obtained his Ph.D at this university on the subject of the undocumented migration process of illegal Turkish immigrants in the Netherlands, (Amsterdam, Het Spinhuis, 2001).  He has published on crime, poverty, and migration.

Staring is editor of Focaal - European Journal of Anthropology and he is currently engaged in research projects on the human smuggling organizations.
