ASSR Staffseminars Fall 2009

On September 8, there will be the first staff seminar of the Fall period.

New is that you still will be able to download the paper from our website and read it in advance, but that it will no longer presumed that you did so: it will be possible to participate without having read the paper.

New is also that we are leaving the system, in which basically each and every staff member is expected to turn up - in practice only a few did. Instead, staff seminars will be organized into thematic series, each focussing on a research theme which is common to various clusters. While all ASSR members are welcome to each of them, we really expect staff members in seminar series which concern one of their research interests.
We trust that this more selective ambition will significantly raise staff attendance, a long-standing and justified desire of especially many of our PhD students and a major condition for ensuring intellectual coherence and integration in the School.

This Fall, there will be two thematic series on:

- Cities, Culture, Governance

- Violence
