Achilles SsewayaAchilles Ssewaya (1966) graduated in Sociology and Philosophy at Makerere University (1990), and obtained his MA in Sociology of Developing Societies at the University of Hull, UK (1993). Since 1993 he has been lecturing in the Department of Sociology at Makerere University, Uganda. In recent years, he has undertaken policy related research in the area of poverty and chronic poverty, project planning, monitoring and evaluation; and capacity building for decentralised development planning. His PhD work will focus on examining the role of socio-economic factors in influencing adherence to Antiretroviral Therapy ART) in a Resources Poor Setting, Uganda. The overall tentative research hypothesis is that, household capital assets and the associated entitlements together with the quality of facility health care influence patients' adherence to ART.
